Hey Neil. I mix quick oats and whey protein powder with cold water and drink it when I wake-up, before I go to the gym or workout, in the middle of long rides or any time I'm hungry but don't have time to make something. It tastes pretty good and it doesn't leave me craving more. Oatmeal has a glycemic index level of just over 50 so while the carbohydrate energy they contain becomes available to the body fairly quickly, they do not spike the blood sugar level and force a release of insulin.
As far as your bean questions goes, I'm guessing they mean black beans http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_turtle_bean#Black_beans vs. any other kind, given that they make the distinction.

That's a lot of oats. Other than oatmeal for breakfast, how do you get up to 25%? What are black beans? Will any bean do?
