Hi Tony,

In speaking of the gym going population, most of what goes on is simply an effort to burn extra calories that shouldn't have been eaten in the first place. This is why I say they are pointless - more activity to undo something that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

MMA, yoga, running etc.... while they may be fat burning activities, tend to be things people do to get better at. Fat burning cardio, by its very nature, is something that you don't want to get better at because it is more effective it you are not very efficient at it.

There are 1000's of ways to become more active and improve health and if people can just get started, they'll be way happier in the long run.

You wrote: "grinding away at a mostly pointless activity that leads you to optimal health but moves you further away from passive enjoyment"

I don't think think these are mutually exclusive :-) I just think the choices available at a commercial gym are limited (ie. "training").... whereas there are many other avenues to get exercise, train and improve health that are more fun and fulfilling.

For instance.... yoga, pilates, aqua fit, sports rec leagues, mixed martial arts, runners, etc. I know I'm speaking for myself anyways.

But there's gotta be a reason no?

You may be in the right industry.... but you haven't found the right "clientele" -- that's an issue I'm having as well. But i'm working to fix it ;-)
